Un LED emite luz como resultado de la luminiscencia el\u00e9ctrica. Tambi\u00e9n se conoce como \u201cluz fr\u00eda\u201d ya que, a diferencia de las bombillas incandescentes anticuadas, la luz no se produce calentando un filamento met\u00e1lico. El diodo, por otro lado, emite luz cuando fluye a trav\u00e9s de dos semiconductores de silicio especialmente revestidos. Es una de las formas m\u00e1s eficientes y ahorradoras de energ\u00eda para producir luz.<\/p><p>Un LED consta de materiales s\u00f3lidos sin partes m\u00f3viles y, a menudo, se moldea en pl\u00e1stico transparente. Esto asegura una alta durabilidad. Cuando un LED est\u00e1 encendido, emite casi cero calor. Esto reduce el problema de enfriar las partes electr\u00f3nicas.<\/p><p>El primer LED fue creado por el inventor ruso Oleg Losev en 1927. Durante muchos a\u00f1os, solo fue posible producir LED infrarrojos, rojos y amarillos. Al variar el brillo de cada LED, los diodos forman conjuntamente una imagen en la pantalla.<\/p><p>Para crear una imagen de color brillante, se utilizan los principios de la mezcla de colores aditiva, mediante el cual se crean nuevos colores mezclando luz en diferentes colores. Una pantalla LED consta de LED rojos, verdes y azules montados en un patr\u00f3n fijo. Estos tres colores se combinan para formar un p\u00edxel. Al ajustar la intensidad de los diodos, se pueden formar miles de millones de colores.
