Une LED \u00e9met de la lumi\u00e8re en raison de la luminescence \u00e9lectrique. Elle est \u00e9galement connue sous le nom de \u00ablumi\u00e8re froide\u00bb car, contrairement aux ampoules \u00e0 incandescence \u00e0 l&#039;ancienne, la lumi\u00e8re n&#039;est pas produite en chauffant un filament m\u00e9tallique. C&#039;est l&#039;un des moyens les plus \u00e9co\u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques et les plus \u00e9conomes en \u00e9nergie de produire de la lumi\u00e8re.<\/p><p>Une LED est constitu\u00e9e de mat\u00e9riaux solides sans pi\u00e8ces mobiles et est souvent moul\u00e9e dans du plastique transparent. Cela garantit une durabilit\u00e9 \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Lorsqu&#039;une LED est allum\u00e9e, elle n&#039;\u00e9met presque aucune chaleur. Cela r\u00e9duit le probl\u00e8me du refroidissement des pi\u00e8ces \u00e9lectroniques.<\/p><p>La premi\u00e8re LED a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e par l&#039;inventeur russe Oleg Losev en 1927.
