Um LED emite luz como resultado da luminesc\u00eancia el\u00e9trica. \u00c9 tamb\u00e9m conhecida como \u201cluz fria\u201d porque, ao contr\u00e1rio das antigas l\u00e2mpadas incandescentes, a luz n\u00e3o \u00e9 produzida pelo aquecimento de um filamento de metal. O diodo, por outro lado, emite luz quando flui atrav\u00e9s de dois semicondutores de sil\u00edcio especialmente revestidos. \u00c9 uma das formas mais eficientes e econ\u00f4micas de produzir luz.<\/p><p>Um LED consiste em materiais s\u00f3lidos sem partes m\u00f3veis e geralmente \u00e9 moldado em pl\u00e1stico transparente. Isso garante alta durabilidade. Quando um LED est\u00e1 aceso, ele emite quase zero de calor. Variando o brilho de cada LED, os diodos juntos formam uma imagem no display.<\/p><p>Para criar uma imagem de cores brilhantes, s\u00e3o usados os princ\u00edpios da mistura aditiva de cores, em que novas cores s\u00e3o criadas pela mistura de luz em cores diferentes. Um display LED consiste em LEDs vermelhos, verdes e azuis montados em um padr\u00e3o fixo. Essas tr\u00eas cores se combinam para formar um pixel. Ajustando a intensidade dos diodos, bilh\u00f5es de cores podem ser formadas. Se voc\u00ea estiver perto de uma tela de LED de baixa resolu\u00e7\u00e3o (distante entre os diodos), ser\u00e1 dif\u00edcil ver o que est\u00e1 na tela.<\/p><p>O menor espa\u00e7amento de pixel fornece maior resolu\u00e7\u00e3o, mas \u00e9 mais caro.
